Fallout of accounting scandals: some local firms stop auditing public companies.(Focus: professional services)

As the deadline for registering with a new accounting oversight board grows closer, several Westchester firms have signed up even though they are no longer auditing public companies because of the risk.

O'Connor, Davies, Munns and Dobbins (ODMD) stepped handling publicly traded companies about six months ago, partly because of the fallout over the corporate accounting scandals and insurance liabilities, said Kevin Keane, a managing partner of the Harrison-based firm.
