Simmons Sale Speculation Continues
One of the hottest rumors during the fall furniture market in High Point, N.C., was the speculation on when and if bedding major Simmons Co. would be sold by New York investment firm Fenway Partners, Simmons' majority owner.
Those rumors will have to persist. "The company has not been sold," said Charlie Eitel, chairman and chief executive officer of Simmons. "We filed an 8-K in late September, notifying the public that we were going to explore the alternatives. That's really all I can say because that's where we are. We are still exploring alternatives."
