Women who care for their grandchildren as little as a few hours a day may increase their risk of coronary heart disease significantly, researchers reported Thursday.
A Brigham and Women's Hospital study found caring for a healthy grandchild nine or more hours a week boosts a woman's risk of heart disease by 55 percent. Investigators theorize the increased risk is due to the stress of providing care.
