* Alternative energy production - An improved zinc-bromine storage battery, designed to provide back-up power for solar, wind, and other electricity-generating schemes, has been developed by researchers at the Weizmann Institute in Israel. Although still in the demonstration stage, this inexpensive battery appears to meet the requirements for large energy-storage banks that could enhance the capabilities for electrical power plants, increase the utilisation of home-based solar electricity production, or power practical electric automobiles.
