WAUNAKEE -- River Valley's Jessa Benson didn't notch her first kill until midway through the first game of Friday night's match against Lodi.
After that, Lodi couldn't stop the sophomore middle blocker.
Benson tallied 15 kills overall and combined with middle blocker Melissa Mellum and outside hitter Cassie Paulsen for 28 kills and five blocks as the Blackhawks downed Lodi 15-10, 15-6, 15-7 in a semifinal of the WIAA Division 2 Portage sectional at Waunakee High School.
The victory sends River Valley (13-1) into tonight's sectional final against Madison Edgewood.
