Oct. 31--The newly hefty car tax that Greg Canfield has to pay for the Chevrolet Suburban and four-door truck he owns has fueled his anger at outgoing Gov. Gray Davis.
"I want to get rid of the whole tax," said Canfield, a Garden Grove resident. "My wife and I both have to work to live a comfortable life. Anything that has to come out of my income bothers me."
Simmering anger over the vehicle license fee, commonly called the "car tax," is propelling a signature drive to permanently do away with the fee. More than 200,000 signatures have already been ...
