Sleep aids add sales at chains
RICHMOND - The chain drug industry is just beginning to realize the full value of the comfort sleep category to pharmacy departments, says Lonnie Scheps, vice president of sales and marketing for E.R. Carpenter Co., manufacturer of polyurethane foam sleep aids.
"In the last six months the chain drug market, especially Walgreens, Eckerd, and a few others, have been showing a high degree of interest," says Scheps, explaining that these and other high-volume retailers are attracted by the products' high margins and good turns.
