The future evolution of Pacific Fleet will eventually involve the command assuming standing joint task force (JTF) responsibilities, according to fleet chief Adm. Walter Doran.
"The Pacific Fleet is changing, also, in its character and its personality," Doran said yesterday during a meeting of the Defense Writers' Group in Washington, D.C. "We are changing and becoming much more of an operational node or an operational command for the U.S. Navy. And we're evolving very quickly into a standing joint task force headquarters in the Pacific."
