A BUSINESSMAN on a round-the-world trip developed a potentially fatal blood clot known as 'economy class syndrome' - even though he was flying first class.

Last night, Niel Wilkins, 48, talked about how he became a victim of deep vein thrombosis, despite having ample leg room and exercising on a flight to Australia.

DVT is believed to be caused when the legs remain still, or the circulation is restricted by the seat in front.
