A BUSINESSMAN on a round-the-world trip developed a potentially fatal blood clot known as 'economy class syndrome' - even though he was flying first class.
Last night, Niel Wilkins, 48, talked about how he became a victim of deep vein thrombosis, despite having ample leg room and exercising on a flight to Australia.
DVT is believed to be caused when the legs remain still, or the circulation is restricted by the seat in front.
Mr Wilkins and wife Pat, 46, had gone on the tour following a successful year in business. Their [pounds sterling]20,000 trip was to last three months.
