A Spanish consortium has been awarded a Eur 300 million ($343 million) contract to install transmission lines and build substations as part of a programme to upgrade the country's power infrastructure and link Libya's electricity network with that of Tunisia. The client, power secretariat General Electricity Company of Libya (Gecol), awarded the contract on 15 September, during the official visit to Libya by Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar.
