Prescription drug prices that Americans and their health plans pay are the highest in the world.
No wonder the new auto contracts insist that prescription drugs ordered routinely be distributed by mail order. No wonder that hundreds of members of the Small Business Association of Michigan simply have dropped health care coverage for their employees.
Independent Michigan pharmacies are mobilizing to block mandatory mail-order prescriptions through proposed state legislation. Likewise, major drug companies are trying to block U.S. consumers from buying prescription medications in Canada where government controls keep prices low.
