WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall-AsiaNet/ - In 2003, Fannie Mae will issue subordinated debt at least semi-annually.

Fannie Mae will issue subordinated debt in an amount that, together with core capital, equals or exceeds 4 per cent of on-balance-sheet assets, after adjusting for capital required to support the off-balance-sheet mortgage securities business and adding back the allowance for losses. After pricing this transaction, Fannie Mae will have issued US$12 billion Subordinated Benchmark Notes since its inaugural issue in 2001.
