Air freight buyers may be better served with psychology degrees than supply chain backgrounds, given the unstable nature of the worldwide air freight market today. Domestic U.S. air freight volumes and demand have been dropping consistently in step with the sluggish U.S. manufacturing sector for the past couple years, but international volumes and rates are rising, especially in certain lanes due to increased demand from the Asian manufacturing boom. The manic combination of the two is enough to make an air freight buyer unstable as well
