Nov. 6--McALLEN, Texas--One of McAllen's own is rolling up his sleeves for a runoff between himself and a businessman in the race to be San Francisco's mayor.
Matt Gonzalez, 38, a Green Party candidate and president of the board of supervisors in San Francisco, grew up in McAllen and graduated from McAllen Memorial High School.
Gonzalez received 20 percent of the vote with 35,753 votes in Tuesday's election for San Francisco mayor. The top vote-getter, city supervisor Gavin Newsom, received twice as many votes with 73,635 votes.
