Nov. 5--When the media come calling, professor J. Scott Vernon wants to make sure reporters get answers about his favorite subject -- agriculture.
As director of Cal Poly's Brock Center for Agricultural Communication, Vernon is passionate about spreading ag industry news and helping students learn how to relay that information to the public, too. He knows by heart, for example, that California exports more than $6.5 billion worth of food each year and that more than 97 percent of state farms are family owned or partnerships.
