As ballet great Suzanne Farrell notes, ``We don't need a centennial - we celebrate the genius of George Balanchine all the time.''
And to make her point, Farrell is bringing her dance troupe to UCLA's Royce Hall on Friday and Saturday in an all-Balanchine program. Call it a prelude to the events set for 2004 honoring the great choreographer and founder of the New York City Ballet.
One of the pieces her troupe will be performing at Royce is ``Variations for Orchestra,'' set to the music of Igor Stravinsky. The 58-year-old Farrell says that Balanchine revised ``Variations'' in 1982 for her because he ...
