The Throop Planning Board will decide tonight whether to allow Butler Poultry Services to build a 10,000-square-foot poultry barn at 7133 Beech Tree Road to raise young chickens, 30,000 at a time.
Under the proposal, chickens would be raised to 18 weeks, then shipped to egg-laying farms.
Since shortly after owner Michael Butler sought a building permit for the proposed barn, on five commercially zoned acres next to his own home, town officials and some town residents have done all they can to stop him.
