Nov. 6--What's in a name?
Actually, a lot, according to supporters and opponents of the Dolliver Street/Pacific Coast Highway name change proposal, which came before the Pismo Beach City Council this week.
The council, after hearing testimony from 10 people, voted unanimously Tuesday to change Pacific Coast Highway -- a name synonymous for Highway 1 in many parts of California -- back to Dolliver Street.
But as part of the compromise decision, PCH signs will be placed on parts of Highway 1 in Pismo as an unofficial distinction.
