Nov. 2--Dan DeMatteo, president of the GameStop video-game chain based in Grapevine, has some good reasons to be optimistic about the holiday shopping season. Nintendo has just slashed the price of its GameCube console system to $99, and the combat game SOCOM II is getting set for wide release, leading the executive to believe that he will have no shortage of customers this Christmas season.
