Pembroke College Cambridge announced today that Sir Richard Dearlove, the current Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS, sometimes known as MI6) has been elected to Master of the College, with effect from the start of the Michaelmas Term, 2004 (1 October 2004).
Sir Richard , who was appointed Chief ('C') of SIS in August 1999, is due to retire from this post on 31 July 2004 on completion of his appointment.
