MILWAUKEE _ Vijay Singh, Davis Love III, Mike Weir and Jim Furyk all had the best years of their careers. Tiger Woods did not.
But if the 204 PGA Tour members eligible to vote for player of the year cast their ballots strictly on merit _ and that's a big if _ Woods should be the winner for the fifth consecutive year when the results are announced Dec. 8.
A case can be made for the award going to Singh, who ended Woods' four-year reign as the leading money winner and won four tournaments.
