A SUICIDE bomber driving a car packed with explosives killed at least 26 people and injured more than 80 in Iraq yesterday.

Eighteen of the victims were Italian police and soldiers helping to restore security.

The massive blast tore off the front of the riverfront building used by the Italians as their base in the southern town of Nassiriya.

Eight local Iraqis living nearby also died as their homes were badly damaged.
