TROY, N.C.-Capel Inc. has filled the position of J. Smith Capel Jr., who died in August. Norm Sweeters was appointed managing director of imports. He reports to Jesse Capel, executive director.
"His contacts with overseas vendors are among the best in the business," Capel said. Most recently, Sweeters, who began his career at the age of 14 in his family's business, Pande Cameron of New York, was president and chief operating officer of Mastercraft Imports Ltd., a supplier of high-end machine-made rugs from Belgium and England.
