Austin, Texas, May 28-The Texas High Speed Rail Authority awarded a franchise to Texas TGV to build a $5 billion high speed "bullet train" linking the Dallas-Houston-San Antonio "Triangle". Morrison Knudsen Corp., the group's lead U.S. partner, plans to use French TGV technology for the 590-mile, 200 mile per hour system which could begin operating by 1998.
