Article: Draft report says cloned animals safe for food.

The Food & Drug Administration released last Friday a draft summary of a risk assessment that builds on the findings of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and indicates that food products derived from animal clones and their offspring "are likely to be as safe to eat as food from their non-clone counterparts, based on all the evidence available."

FDA released the draft summary ahead of a Nov. 4 public meeting in Rockville, Md., where FDA's Veterinary Medicine Advisory Committee (VMAC) will discuss the report.
