OCEANFRONT -- John Broadwater, the manager of the Monitor National Marine Sanctuary and the director of NOAA's Maritime Archaeology Center, loves shipwrecks - especially ancient ones.
His eyes light up at the prospect of a new find.
Broadwater has more than 30 years of experience investigating historic shipwrecks. Since 1992, he also led four major expeditions to the hulk of the ironclad Monitor and was Virginia's senior underwater archaeologist from 1978 to 1990.
