Roy Howell closed the locker room door and addressed his Emeralds for about 10 minutes following yet another loss to Spokane.
"I let them know we are not playing good baseball," the Eugene manager said. "We talked about this game tonight, how you have to get runners on, over and in on offense."
Eugene wasted a solid pitching performance by Jared Wells and four relievers as Spokane defeated the Emeralds 2-1 in 12 innings Sunday evening in front of 2,845. The Ems had 10 hits, but stranded nine runners and had another thrown out at home plate.
