ANTELOPE - While at a Young Life camp last May, I watched a little girl on a "ropes course" scamper up a 38-foot pole. On a tiny perch and, hardly hesitating, she sailed into the air in an attempt to grab a trapeze bar that was far beyond her reach.
Childlike faith, I thought, as she was lowered to the ground by a rope-and-pulley system connected to her harness. Just watching it churned my stomach with fear.
But now I'm back at Wildhorse Canyon, part of a father-son retreat on the old Rolls Royce-cruising grounds of the Bhagwan himself.
"Hey, Welch, ropes course tomorrow," says a father from Bend. ...
