Students returning to Lane Community College are finding the classrooms almost as crowded as the parking lot.
Fall term traffic jams have been an annual event at LCC for many years, but recent budget cuts have added a new bottleneck by forcing the college to reduce the number of classes it offers. That's led to some dissatisfaction as students try to find a slot in classes that typically fill quickly.
"There's frustration about full classes, for sure," said Tim Blood, an academic adviser at Lane.
In the past, LCC typically budgeted money for extra sections and could add some classes to meet demand. ...
