FRESNO, Calif., Nov. 14 (AScribe Newswire) -- Nobel Laureate Rigoberta Menchu -- the Guatemalan indigenous leader who gained world-wide attention defending human rights and promoting democracy in her homeland -- will visit Fresno next week with a speech on Nov. 18 at California State University, Fresno and a special recognition ceremony on Nov. 21 in downtown Fresno with the Oaxacan Binational Indigenous Front.
The historic and rare United States visit is sponsored by the University Lecture Series in cooperation with the Department of Chicano and Latin American Studies, both at Fresno State.
