Polygraph or "lie detector" testing is a key part of security clearance for thousands of highly, sensitive positions throughout the United States, from those in military, intelligence to ones in atomic research. But now, in a 245-page report, a panel of experts at the prestigious National Academy of Sciences has concluded that "the scientific basis for polygraph testing is questionable."
