From L'Avalee des avales (1966) to Gros mots (1999), Rejean Ducharme's seminal literary output has generated probing critical commentary and earned him significant recognition (the Prix du Gouverneur General for his first novel, followed by the Prix Alexandre-Vialette, the Prix Molson, the Prix David, and the Prix Gilles-Corbeil).
