Nov. 16--GASTONIA, N.C.--Parkdale President and CEO Andy Warlick has traveled to Colombia six times in the past year. Last week he was in Vietnam.
Warlick is searching for ways to keep Parkdale, a Gastonia-based yarn maker, competitive in a global marketplace in which U.S.
textile companies seem to falter daily.
"If you don't know what's going on in the world, you get blindsided," said the 46-year-old executive. "I know they're building yarn mills over there (in Vietnam) and I ask why."
