THE National Day of Oman, which coincides with the 63rd birth anniversary of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, is celebrated today.
Sultan Qaboos bin Said came into office on July 23, 1970. His Majestys reign was the beginning of a new era that renewed Omans historic glories and opened a new chapter of development, prosperity, and social and economic progress. The new ruler is an adherent of world peace and stability. He changed the name of the country from Muscat and Oman to Oman to symbolize the nations unity.
