One of the great documents of human freedom, the Emancipation Proclamation, will be on view at Central Library's Getty Gallery December 5th - 8th.

On January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which aided the process of dismantling the institution of slavery in the United States.
