The Police - a band featuring the bare-boned vocals of Gordon Sumner, alias Sting - disbanded itself 20 years ago, in late 1983. Since then Sting has roamed the planet, about whose future he famously cares (no harm in that), in the guise of the Serious Man of Pop. He's scored some notable successes as a solo artist but has scarcely needed them since the world role he's grown into requires only average musical output.
What Sting has really been is the global stand-in for John Lennon. He is less crazy, to be sure, but still an 'issues' ...
