SYDNEY HAS KNOWN two George Molnars. The elder George Molnar was a Professor of Architecture, a painter and for many years cartoonist for the Sydney Morning Herald. The humour of his elegant line drawings was often subtle: when the late Dr Franta Knopfelmacher was refused a lectureship in philosophy by the Sydney University academic board, the professors were portrayed standing, but all leaning over a little to their left.
