BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Sixty-five percent of gift card purchases are a planned decision rather than an impulse buy, replacing the theory that gift cards were "standby" purchases rather than a first choice, according to an independent national study commissioned by Stored Value Systems, Inc. (SVS), the Louisville, Ky.-based company that processes approximately 50 percent of all gift card transactions in the U.S. Only 28 percent said gift cards were an impulse decision.
