Hotel Baker's long-awaited opening could happen in as little as two weeks.
"We hope to open the first or second week in December," owner Joe Salas told the city council Monday night, shortly before the government operations committee signed off on a liquor license for the business.
"Welcome to town," said Alderman Dan Stellato.
The hotel will host the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce's holiday mixer Dec. 4 - the first major event at the historic downtown building since it closed in January 2002.
