Outbreaks of hepatitis A in four states -- including three fatal cases in Pittsburgh -- possibly linked to contaminated stocks of green onions have prompted some Cincinnati area restaurants to stop serving the vegetable. But others will continue to offer it, as will Kroger and other grocery chains locally.
The Hamilton County Health Department is concerned enough about the threat posed by contaminated green onions that it issued an advisory based on information from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. The main concern is consumption of raw or undercooked green onions.
