Nov. 20--ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga.--Robins Air Force Base will cut its on-base housing in half by 2007, a base official said Wednesday.
Beginning in the summer of 2005 or early 2006, crews will begin tearing down 582 units of the 807 homes and duplexes now found on base, said Lt. Col. Joe Ballard, commander of the 778th Civil Engineer Squadron. Some demolished houses will be replaced with 178 bigger housing units -- a net loss of 404 units.
