BOULDER -- There is a delicious predictability to the taste of lemon sponge cake and an equally delicious unpredictability in the dancing of the Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet.
Sporting point shoes as they rehearsed a new work by company director Robert Sher-Machherndl at the Dairy Arts Center recently, the seven women of the Boulder-based troupe moved in lovely balletic unison to a dreamy piece for strings by Arvo Paert.
But when the music switched from new romanticism to the sultry blues of Etta James, so, too, did the choreography. A single dancer evoked the lonely sentiments of I've Been ...
