Nov. 21--SANTA FE, N.M.--The pumice-processing plant at St. Francis Drive and Zia Road has greeted motorists entering Santa Fe since the 1940s, serving as an imposing structure with its towering smokestacks and soaring metal beams.
But a Santa Fe development company, SR Brown Inc., wants to tear it down to make way for a business park and residential subdivision. The company took the first steps Thursday toward making that happen.
