2003 DEC 5 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc., (CBST) announced that it has begun shipping its flagship antibiotic product, Cubicin (daptomycin for injection), to U.S. hospitals.
Cubist received U.S. Food & Drug Administration marketing approval for Cubicin on September 12, 2003.
Cubicin is indicated for the treatment of complicated skin and skin structure infections (cSSSI) caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including those caused by MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and MSSA (methicillin-susceptible S. aureus).
