PHARMACEUTICAL sales reps say their access to physicians is diminishing amid tightened competition among company sales forces and added constraints under the new PhRMA guidelines, according to survey of 430 reps by G & S Research.
Asked what their single greatest challenge in promoting products was, 67 percent of respondents cited access to physicians, and 78 percent said they do not get enough time to adequately detail physicians, with a majority reporting that "too many competitors' representatives take up physicians time." And 82 percent said their competitors had become slightly or much more aggressive in the past year.
