The power companies are not meeting the demands made by the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Brazilian development bank BNDES (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social) and the regulatory institution Aneel (Agencia Nacional de Energia Eletrica) to adhere to the re-capitalization agreements made with the Brazilian government in the first half of 2003 (Jan-Jun), which would amount to R$5.3bil.
