JERRY TRAUNFELD, executive chef at The Herbfarm, will open his own restaurant in Seattle in 2008.
Wow! Even in the ever-transient restaurant industry, that's a shocker.
Traunfeld is The Herbfarm, even though Ron Zimmerman and Carrie Van Dyck are the supportive owners who've nurtured and inspired the chef in the 17 years he's been in the kitchen at this culinary landmark that offers epic nine-course feasts in bucolic Woodinville.
The big move has been simmering on the back burner for some time, but it heated up after a research trip to Central Asia for a book on spices.
