WE may be an island nation with a seafaring history dating back hundreds of years, but few British people know what the Royal Navy really does, according to new research.
A survey published by the navy shows nearly nine in 10 (89%) people know little or nothing about the organisation and one in five of those questioned were unable to name its main roles and functions.
