A FORMER council leader jailed for corruption just months before a leisure centre he instigated was opened is now leading a campaign to save it.
Ironically, Gerald Murphy, 74, who masterminded the building of Swansea Leisure Centre, had to listen to crowds cheering the Queen at its official opening in June 1977 from his cell across the road in Swansea Jail.
He had been jailed for two ...
