New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey is advocating for an increase in the bonding capacity for the Garden State Preservation Trust. The trust buys open land in New Jersey for preservation.
But with New Jersey set to be the first state to run out of developable land altogether, critics see a threat in the program that Gov. McGreevey describes as "working hard to reverse the irresponsible ways of the past, and protect [New Jersey's] open space and drinking water from the dangers of sprawl."
